I find it interesting that the older had between 2lite4 4 cylinder engine borrowed from a celica and 3liter 6 cylinder from scratch

It was also an auto mk4... Launch the 6spd at about 3800rpm with a little slip of the clutch.. Would've made a diff how much who knows...

@Private User yes a 2liter 4 cylinder and produce same bhp as a 3liter 6 cylinder engine with 340bhp. Just factory like to give 2liter engine a nad name. I love my 2 and 3 cylinder engine mainly and I love tge power they make 146 - 300bhp really nice

New cars can have the same power as the older cars. It not the engine is a problem it between emissions they produce Just shows that 340bhp back then is just enough or say bet 280bhp and 340bhp if every car had same bhp 1.0liter - 3liter engine it might be a better choice

Just wondering why do you guys always do pulls on wet or dewy roads you can’t get accurate results. But I do understand time and scheduling though

Actually, it wasn’t all Toyota....Yamaha, Asin and yes BMW took also part at Engineering the old Supra....that’s why Toyota ask BMW for cooperation with the new Supra, because BMW also took part at engineering the old Supra, as the only no Japanese company....many people forget that

2JZ is better than the BMW, there is a lot more aftermarket support to get all the horsepower

@RageGamer YT they are, but most Supra’s are known for 1jz’s and 2jz’s before that they still had inline 6’s but they were far more unreliable and made way less power.

How to settle the arguments... 1. Is the Mk4 better looking? Yes. 2. Is the 2JZ an awesome engine, especially for its time? Also yes. 3. Is the B58 a better engine than the 2JZ? Of course it is 4. Should Toyota have put a B58 in the new Supra? Well, if they didn’t, there wouldn’t have been a new Supra. 5. What’s the most desirable car there? The Mk4 Supra. And this is from someone who loves the Supra but drives a B58 powered M140i........with 6 points on his licence.....because every time I put it in sports mode a copper appears 🥺
